W.....T.....F????

I got this junk mail this morning... bizarre shit.

"Beloved in Christ, Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus! May the Lord?s favour and peace be multiplied to you,see Numbers 6:24-26; 2 Peter 1:2. The word of God also says, 'They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles: they shall run, and not be weary, and they shall walk, and not faint.' Isaiah 40:31.It is a priviledge to share this great testimony with you, to God be thy glory. I am Brother Oney Rex,Happilly married to my wife with Four children.During a prayer and fasting session in our church i asked God Almighty to direct me to an honest person that will use this Fund righteously to reach the needy, the less priviledge and lost souls. For the word of God says, 'what shall it profict a man if he gains the whole world, and loss his soul'. The bible also says, 'the blessing of God comes supernaturally and it is through Divine favour'. The amount involved, is $5.5m US dollar (Five million, five hundred US dollars) This said fund was aquired, when i was working with an International Oil Firm in my Country,I was the field operational Manager of Exporting of CRUDE OIL in my Company when i was in the world. I gave my life to God Almighty after my predicaments in the world and God really touched my life. Then, after given my life to God, i packaged and sealed the fund in a consignment box and deposited the consignment box that contained the fund with a Security Company, ready for delivery and to invest the fund on the things that will glorify the name of our Lord Jesus Christ for His wonderful deeds in my life. Beloved, i will like you to immediately send me your particulars, full names, full address, direct telephone and fax numbers to enable me procure the necessary documents covering the fund, making you the sole beneficiary of the fund. As soon as i receive your particulars, I will start up all the necessary process on how the funds will get to you. Be informed that as soon as this fund is in your possession, i shall join you in your country to see how the fund will be use for the things that will glorify God and to give thanks to God. Awaiting your prompt response. Remain blessed. Yours in Christ, Brother Oney Rex Please Reply Me Through My Private Email:xxxxxx_xxxxxx2005@hotmail.com"

Sad part of this... it's all wasted effort on the junk spammer's part because I'm pretty much an atheist.

uh... wow.

Really random thought...

It's a popular technique in filmmaking to cast past or historical events in black and white, and current events in color. I think a lot of that comes from the big moment when the first color films and the first color televisions became widely available. My very first memories of television were from an old 13 or 15 incher (it was big for that time)... it was black and white, had all the old knobs instead of the buttons and touchpanels of today (remember VHF and UHF?), and took about 2 minutes for the tube to warm up and finally present a picture (Memories of hearing Big Bird from Sesame Street before actually seeing him later). A lot different from the 40 inch widescreen projector TV my family has now.

It's only a matter of time, and probably fairly soon that holograms and other types of tridimensional displays will come to maturity and be available to the public. I wonder... will the same thing happen again? Will past and historical events be cast in 2D, with 3D saved for current events? Would it be still in black and white if it's in the past anyway?

Random thought of today... to be answered probably by the children of tomorrow.

Long overdue Catblogging post

Ken says...

Kung Fu Hustle, is without equal, the best kung fu comedy I've ever seen, and also some of the finest filmmaking I've seen in a while. Two cats up!

Confucius said....

The Master discoursing to the state Band Master of Lu on the subject of music said: "The art of music may be readily understood. The attack should be prompt and united, and as the piece proceeds it should do so harmoniously, with clearness of tone, and continuity of time, and so on to its conclusion."

What Ruined My Weekend, and Nearly My Life

Like King Theoden of Gondor from the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, I've recently been relieved of the foul tongue of a woman who was not unlike Grima Wormtongue, whose forked speech sapped Theoden of power and usurped the throne, threatening the very existence of the kingdom.

It's funny, but I build my body up to newer heights of strength and endurance, yet my mind, spirit, and soul were so very vulnerable. So cosmically difficult and disorienting was the situation I felt I was placed in that I actively began to feel my grip on reality slip away.

I was being used for sinister designs the true nature of which I may never ever truly know, nor do I want to. I just wanted to be at peace, and to have my fragile social order preserved, tattered as it currently seems now.

I know now, I have true friends. These beautiful people that watched me at the brink this weekend and pulled me back, I have immense gratitude for what good deeds they have wrought. I wish them great happiness and prosperity, even while I struggle to restore my own.

Thank you. You know who you are. :)

Quest for Apotheosis

I've recently started doing my own weight-training routine. It consists mostly of a range of exercises executed almost every day, with 3 sets of 10 reps each. My equipment of choice has been a multi-position bench and a set of Bowflex Selecttech Adjustable weight dumbbells.

This is a new thing for me, probably one of those "Oh Shit I'm 30 and not so young anymore!" things... but when I graduated from high school, I weighed 118 pounds. I once was 160 lbs in my 2nd year in Indiana, but it was all fat. Now, after briefly being at 145 pounds during my last trip to China, I'm back at 160, though with considerably more muscle.

Thing is, these weights, and the martial arts, are probably a last-gasp attempt to get away from the old 118lb weakling Ken. :) I'm going to give it my all. I'll post up before and after pictures someday. :)
